What is hear the child?
Kids talk, we listen

"Hear the Child" is a heartfelt process that values and honours your child's voice in legal matters. It involves a series of gentle, non-evaluative, and child-centered interviews with your child, where they can express their thoughts, feelings, and preferences.
Meet Meena Dhillon, your lawyer
Meena is an accredited BC Hear the Child Roster member.
She uses a trauma-informed approach to neutrally interview children and share their views in the child’s voice. This is a non-evaluative and child centered process focused on giving children a voice in family proceedings that involve them.
The three steps of the "Hear the Child" reporting process
01
Retain our service
In order to retain Meena’ services there must be consent from both guardians or a court order appointing or ordering a hear the child report.
02
Two child-only meetings
Your child attends the interview and meetings alone, providing a safe space for open expression without external influence.
03
Provides "Hear the Child" report
As a "Hear the Child" report writer, Meena remains neutral, strictly reporting on the child's views without assessing the child or parents.
